Choosing the right antihistamine

For most adults, a once-daily non-sedating antihistamine — fexofenadine, cetirizine or loratadine — is the right starting point. Fexofenadine is the least sedating of the three. Cetirizine works well for itchy eyes and skin; loratadine is the gentlest on the nervous system. For nasal symptoms, add a saline rinse or anti-allergy spray like Sterimar Stop & Protect alongside the tablet. Start treatment a couple of weeks before your usual hayfever onset for best results.
